Western New Yorkers will have the opportunity to enjoy two St. Patty's Day parades this weekend. The Old Neighborhood parade will march through the Old First Ward today, beginning at noon. The Buffalo city parade kicks off at two along Delaware Avenue on Sunday. South Buffalo Common Council member Chris Scanlon encourages everyone to embrace the warmer weather and enjoy the fun.
"This weekend's a wonderful opportunity for people of Buffalo and throughout Western New York to get out and celebrate our city, celebrate our Irish heritage. If you're not Irish, get out and celebrate and pretend that you are. I know so many people do."
Local authorities warn that DWI checkpoints will be operating throughout the weekend, and a crackdown on underage drinking and open container laws will be employed as well.
