The prospects for road repairs seem months away, but plans are already underway for the continued improvements to Kenmore Avenue. A $5 million project will begin this spring that will resurface the heavily traveled road from Main Street to Fairfield Avenue. Buffalo Commissioner of Public Works Steve Stepniak states that this project is better planned than some previous efforts.
"I actually remember years and years ago that part of Kenmore was paved, only the Buffalo side. This is a much better way to do it, to do both sides at the same time. You get a lot better, consistent pavement, and you get a better crown to the road. So, it really made a lot of sense to do it this way," said Stepniak.
The repaving will begin in the spring and is expected to take 2 - 3 months. This will largely complete a full-scale project to repair all of Kenmore Avenue.
Stepniak states that plans are being made to address the lower portion of the street in the future.
