Locals embracing winter at Delaware Park

Mike Desmond/wbfo news

The stage at Shakespeare Hill in Delaware Park is gone for the winter, replaced by sledders looking to make the best of the snowy weather.

"I like playing in the snow and sledding," said one sledder, identified as Clifford. He was one of many who made the best of a cold, snowy Sunday in Delaware Park.

Michael King was there with his wife and two children, all moving through the snow on those snowshoes which look like miniature skis.

King says winter isn't beating him, at least yet.

"No, no, no, we love it. So, you've go to adapt or hibernate all winter so you have to do something," King said

This group was active and noisy, sliding and dragging the sled back up for another run while other tracks in the snow showed Delaware Park's traditional cross-country ski crowd was somewhere in the vicinity, quietly hissing through the snow.
