Tonawanda engines prove to be fast sellers for Corvette

photo from General Motors

Coming out of November, General Motors sold more than 31,000 Corvettes last year. Every one of the cars featured an engine from the Town of Tonawanda.

When the sales report for December is out, sales will be even higher. November was the first month to ship the ZO6, which is sharing the Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly line with the Stingray.

The new model has a rocket-like, 650-horsepower engine.

"It's actually going very well. We've introduced the new model that goes into the Corvette ZO6. So, we're really excited about that," said Tonawanda Powertrain Plant Manager Steve Finch. He calls it a great experience to know where the special  Corvette engines are going.

Finch says workers like all of the engines for the various GM cars which come out of Tonawanda Powertrain but he says there is that special mystique for a car like the Corvette.
