Governor Cuomo has vetoed legislation that would have required annual reports to be compiled regarding monthly caseloads handled by the staff of Child Protective Services. The legislation, sponsored by Binghamton Assemblywoman, Donna Lupardo, was intended to limit caseloads so that social workers could effectively investigate instances of child abuse and maltreatment, and effective policies could be developed.
Cuomo states that he supports the intention of the legislation but feels that, as written, it will not achieve its goals.
