Weather assisting local ski resorts

The latest round of lake effect snow is good news for ski resorts south of Buffalo. Kissing Bridge and Holiday Valley are getting active as the new year begins.

Above-average temperatures put a damper on skiing over the Christmas holiday.

But that's all changed now according to Kissing Bridge Marketing Director Peter Calleri.

"We'll be able to make snow now with this kind of temperatures and humidity."

In fact, Kissing Bridge opened for the season New Year's Eve day.

Calleri says snow in the metro area is like free advertising for skiers and tubers.

"Once they get snow in the yard - they think, hey let's go tubing."

The change in the weather is also welcomed at Holiday Valley, according to the resort's Jane Eshbaugh.

"The more snow in the forecast, the more phone calls we get, and the more cars in the parking lot."

Eshbaugh says Western New Yorkers might as well make the best of winter and head to the ski slopes and tubing parks
