Ice at Canalside draws thousands on opening weekend

Mike Desmond/WBFO News

The opening weekend for Buffalo's newest downtown attraction drew thousands of people and it appears many more will visit the Ice at Canalside over the holiday break if warm temperatures don't get in the way.

Officials say the Ice at Canalside attracted about 6,000 people last weekend, its first weekend in operation.

The Ice is expected to be a popular destination over the holiday break offering daily long open skate hours including attractions like Ice Bikes.

Officials are even expecting some popular food trucks to roll up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the next two weekends.

One snag though, open skate was apparently canceled yesterday due to warm temperatures. It might be a good idea to check the website before heading down on this Christmas Eve with warm temperatures once again in the forecast.

You can find the Ice schedule at CanalsideBuffalo.com.
