The Genesee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal house fire in the Town of Byron.The County's emergency dispatch center received the call just after 2am on Friday from a resident on Caswell Road, reporting flames coming from the living room.
Firefighters brought 84-year-old Norine Leaton to safety. Leaton was transported to United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, where she is being treated for smoke inhalation, and is currently listed in critical condition.
A man was found deceased in the house by firefighters, and has not yet been positively identified. The Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into the cause of the blaze.
