Families in need this Holiday season have just a few days left to apply for help through the Holiday Partnership.

The Holiday Partnership is made up of 23 agencies providing support to children and families in need for the holidays. Agencies include The Buffalo News, Community Action Organization of Erie County, Lancaster Youth Bureau, Northtowns Boys & Girls Clubs and the United Way.

Last year, the partnership made Christmas a little merrier for 11,000 children and made sure 12,000 families had food on the table.

2-1-1 Western New York Information Referral Specialist Derrick Haudricourt says they're expecting to help even more applicants this year. He notes it's a difficult season for low-income families.

"It's at a time of year when utility bills are going up, children's expectations are rising and the efforts and generosity of the community always amaze us," says Haudricourt, adding, "Buffalo is the city of good neighbors."

Haudricourt says there are only 2 main requirements to receive support. The first is that you have children 12-years-old or under and secondly that you are eligible for food stamps. He says you don't have to be receiving food stamps, only be able to meet the same eligibly requirements.

The deadline to apply for support this holiday season is this Friday, December 5th.
