National Weather Service updates snowfall totals

Cheryl Hagen/WBFO News

"Winter Storm Knife," "Snowvember" or whatever you call the storm of 2014, one thing is clear; a lot of snow fell over a very short amount of time. The National Weather Service is out with an updated list of snowfall accumulations for the storm.

Weather Service Officials say south Cheektowaga leads the totals with 65 inches, that's 5 feet and 5 inches of snow since the storm began Monday.

Lancaster comes in a close second with 63 inches or 5 feet and 3 inches over the past 2 days.

Officials say the remaining Southtowns areas hit hard by the storm such as the Gardenville area of West Seneca received about 60 inches or 5 feet.

Weather Service Officials add it is getting more difficult to measure accumulations because new snow tends to sink quickly into the mounds of snow already on the ground.
