WBFO News photo by Eileen Buckley

Heavy Lake Effect snows hammered areas south of Buffalo overnight. It has  been an extremely difficult Tuesday morning for some motorists who have been literally stranded on the Thruway.

Stranded I-90 motorists calls WBFO News.

One of those stranded motorists is David Carr. He is traveling from his home in Washington, D.C. to Toronto. Carr is stuck on the 90-near Blasdell in his Toyata pickup. Carr spoke WBFO'S  News Director Brian Meyer. He was asked if he spotted any plows.

"I saw a couple, two or three, go westbound, and that was confirmed by this Captian Kennedy (state police)," said Carr during a live WBFO News interview Tuesday morning.

"In the last four or five hours -- there's two to three foot drifts, so we are all now siting in a very nice parking space, surrounded by snow, kind of like a polar bear trying to protect himself," said Carr.

Carr said he remains safe and had some food and water and is doing "okay".

"I have food and some water. None of us are going to fall over dead without food and drink. It's okay. I've got audio books and iPhone," stated Carr.
