"Buffalove" postcards are making the rounds across the country and even the globe. It's all part of a new campaign aimed at getting Buffalo on the radar of folks who live elsewhere - and it appears to be working!
The "Buffalove" Postcard campaign was initiated by Buffalo Niagara Enterprise about two weeks ago. The idea is for people here in Western New York to send the cards to family and friends who live elsewhere simply by submitting their name and address online at WhereLifeWorks.com.
BNE Marketing Communications Specialist Megan Savage says the idea is to get people outside of the area thinking about Buffalo, adding "We thought it would be a fun way to get people on our website and learning about the region."
Savage says they've sent out nearly two hundred postcards since November 4th from New York to California, Texas, Alaska and beyond to places like the U.K., South Korea, Spain and Puerto Rico. Each postcard has message saying "Someone in Buffalo-Niagara misses you" - and includes the website.
"There's information on our neighborhoods, our school district, arts and culture, tips on visiting Canada... even a moving checklist (on the website)," according to Savage.
Savage says since starting the campaign they've seen an increase in visits to the site, so at the very least, she says we are on people's radar. The initial postcard had a fall theme featuring a Buffalo made of leaves. Savage says a second card will be out for the holidays featuring a gingerbread Buffalo.
