A Queens woman was ordered to make restitution after she used counterfeit 100-dollar bills throughout the state of New York and beyond.
Michele Sergeant, 31, and co-defendant O'Neal Walker were stopped last year for speeding on Interstate 390 in Steuben County. State Troopers found $8,700 in counterfeit money the car. According to U.S Attorney William Hochul, the Queens, NY woman was ordered to pay $44,700 in restitution after being convicted for possessing counterfeit bank notes.
Investigators determined that Sergeant and Walker distributed counterfeit bills in New York, Ohio, Massachusetts, Michigan and Arkansas.
Walker was sentenced to 18 months in prison back in August.
