New York State's junior Senator is urging swift action on the confirmation of President Obama's nominee for the Attorney General's post. The job became available when Eric Holder announced in September that he would be resigning. Obama has formally nominated US Attorney Loretta Lynch. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand supports the Harvard graduate, citing Lynch's work as a prosecutor in Brooklyn and her work in terrorism cases.
Lynch's approval would make her the first African-American female to hold the post.
Gillibrand applauds the addition of another woman to the federal bench.
