New York State wineries have made a major comeback, according to Wine Enthusiast Magazine, earning the state the title "Wine Region of the Year."
“The New York wine industry has made a remarkable comeback in the past 30 years in terms of the quality of wines, number of wineries, and economic impact,” said Adam Strum, Publisher and Editor of Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
“All of those positive indicators have accelerated tremendously during the past four years, making New York State one of the most vibrant and promising wine-producing destinations in the world.”
The magazine notes that New York's five main wine regions (Long Island, Hudson River Region, Finger Lakes, Niagara Escarpment and Lake Erie) have grown into "internationally recognized destinations" representing $3.7 billion for the state economy.
