Catholic Health recently opened its new headquarters on the edge of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. But, its cafeteria can't hold what will be 700 building workers by August, prompting the emergence of new food offerings to meet that demand.
"We feel that there is a big potential there with Catholic Health," said developer Rocco Termini who is opening his Dog e Style hot dog restaurant to serve Catholic Health and his 600 in nearby apartment buildings.
There's a Marco's going into Genesee Gateway across the street near Genesee and Oak off the Kensington.
Michael Dimmer's restaurant Marble + Rye won't be there until spring but the owner of the Black Market Food Truck is moving upstairs from what will be his food place in apartments in the old Ellicott Paint building. Dimmer says those Catholic Health workers made it attractive.
"We found property was going to be for lease about five months ago and it's been quite a process," Dimmer said.
"That was probably the biggest draw for us, not only is the building incredible that we are moving into but just with what is happening around it, like you said, with seven hundred plus employees coming in from Catholic Health."
Dimmer says the location will probably be attractive to customers from the nearby Medical Campus for lunch and dinner and perhaps Sunday brunch and eventually breakfast. He says it's a developing neighborhood.
