Drivers with multiple DWI offenses will be facing stiffer penalties come November first. Vincent's Law will allow for seven years in prison and a $10,000 fine for anyone convicted of a third DWI within a 15 year period. The law was named for a New York State man who was killed by a multiple DWI offender who had never done prison time.
Current laws restrict the look-back period to ten years.
Surveys are showing that the stiffening of DWI penalties is having an effect across the state in lowering the number of arrests.
