Authorities are conducting a search along a section of Route 219-in Orchard Park.  WBFO'S Eileen Buckley says the search began earlier today, but police remain tight lipped about this investigation.

The FBI, Erie County Sheriff's Department, DEC and Orchard Park Police are involved in this search off the 219.

WBFO News reached Scott Zylka, executive assistant to the Erie County Sheriff.  Zylka could only confirm a search is underway and that the Sheriff's Department is working with the other agencies in this field search.

"I can confirm that the Erie County Sheriff's Office is working in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, conducting a field search along the 219 in Orchard Park," said Zykla.

WBFO News asked Zylka if there is any danger to the community.

"This is just a field search. There is no threat to the public," noted Zylka. "We are not looking for an armed and dangerous individual. We're just conducting  afield search, so the public should feel no threat."
Authorities refused to say what they are searching for along the 219. The Buffalo FBI office also confirms for WBFO that they're "conducting a field search in connection with an ongoing matter"  But they also reassured there is no public safety concerns.  They described it as "routine work."

WBFO will continue to monitor the situation.
