Bills set roster, practice squad

The Buffalo Bills have added quarterback Jeff Tuel and six other players to their practice squad.  All seven were cut by Buffalo on Saturday before rejoining the Bills on Sunday.

Linebacker Jimmy Gaines, wide receiver Caleb Holley, defensive linemen Ike Igbinosun and Bryan Johnson, and defensive backs Deon Broomfield and Kenny Ladler join Tuel on the practice squad.

The Bills moved to trim their roster to 53 players this weekend. T.J. Graham, a wide reciever who was picked in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and Doug Legursky, a former starter on the team's offensive line, were among the cuts.

Tuel was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State in 2013 and went on to play in two games for the Bills last season, making one start.

He completed 26 of 59 passes for 309 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

Buffalo has struggled to identify a backup to quarterback EJ Manuel, cutting Tuel, Thad Lewis, Dennis Dixon and Jordan Palmer during the preseason.

The Bills signed veteran quarterback Kyle Orton on Saturday to fill the slot behind Manuel.
