Author Gina Fava 'sculpts' a new novel

Buffalo native Gina Fava is out with her latest novel, a look at a serial killer in Italy. The Sculptor is a thriller that takes the reader to some of Europe's most famous destinations.

"There's always a story to tell," Gina Fava tells WBFO's Mike Desmond as she explains her commitment to write amidst the the crunch of a demanding personal life.

A graduate of Frontier Central High School, Fava recounts how an introduction to the work of Stephen King started her on the long road to becoming a successful writer. She  started writing short stories that she could read to friends. The stories grew longer over the years to the point where she has released several works, including her latest novel, The Sculptor.

Mike Desmond is one of Western New York’s most experienced reporters, having spent nearly a half-century covering the region for newspapers, television stations and public radio. He has been with WBFO and its predecessor, WNED-AM, since 1988. As a reporter for WBFO, he has covered literally thousands of stories involving education, science, business, the environment and many other issues. Mike has been a long-time theater reviewer for a variety of publications and was formerly a part-time reporter for The New York Times.
