The Niagara County Health Department is issuing a rabies alert for anyone who worked at the Lakeview Animal Sanctuary over the past six months. Authorities report that volunteers at the Pendleton facility were allowed to handle a variety of animals that are prone to carrying rabies, including raccoons, skunks and foxes. The facility lacks the proper certification for such animal handling.
Anyone with possible exposure is urged to contact the health department by calling 439-7444.
