A Niagara County Sheriffs Deputy was injured in a car accident on Saturday morning. The officer was responding to a call, traveling with his lights and sirens in operation, when his vehicle was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of North Transit Road and Main Street in Lockport. William Higgs, a 74-year-old resident of Florida, was given a citation for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
Higgs pulled around a stopped vehicle and entered the intersection, causing the collision.
The deputy was taken to an area hospital for the treatment of minor injuries and was released.
