A series of investigations into welfare fraud in Niagara County have resulted in a number of arrests. The investigations were undertaken by the Niagara County Department of Social Services and the Niagara County Sheriffs Office. Fifteen county residents will face a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges. The fraudulent payments in these cases are estimated to total nearly $30,000.
Authorities stated that these investigations will continue in the county in an effort to root fraud out of the system.
