A meeting regarding the future of Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane turned into a mass protest on Saturday. Eastern Niagara Health System CEO Clare Haar and Chairman George Muscato were on hand at the Newfane Town Hall to address the concerns of attending residents. When Muscato took the podium, a majority of the audience walked out. Many complained that hospital officials are not communicating with the public in good faith.
A proposed reorganization would cost jobs and limit services.
Union leaders and town representatives are looking into details of the plan.
