About 200 runners took part in this year's Celebrity 5K Wednesday evening, sponsored by the Buffalo Broadcasters Association at Canalside.

Jim Park of Buffalo was the top men's finisher with a time of 17:29.  Megan Caitagirone, whose hometown wasn't listed, was the first woman to cross the finish line at 19:06.

WBFO program host Avery Schneider ran in the race.  (See photo)  He was joined at the finish line by WBFO hosts Pat Feldballe (left) and Mark Scott (right), who are members of the BBA board.

Proceeds from the race benefit the BBA's efforts to preserve Buffalo's broadcasting history.  A portion of the money raised also goes to WNY Heroes, a local group that supports local veterans.

Katie Morse, a news anchor and reporter at Time Warner Cable News and BBA board member, chaired the 5K.

Though the skies were threatening throughout the day, the sun peaked through as the starting gun sounded.
