Old Vacant School Brought Back to Life
Former Buffalo Public School 60 has undergone a $20 million renovation - and is now known as Riverside Apartments.
The project was developed by the DePaul Group. It's president Mark Fuller said when he first looked at the building several years ago he was overwhelmed by its size and condition. Fuller said, "there was asbestos, plaster falling off the walls, the ceilings caving in. And the magnitude scared me. It was a significant adaptive reuse. But at the same time very excited to be able to take a building like this, restore it, and give it back to the community"
The 68-unit Riverside Apartments offers affordable energy efficient apartments for low-income people and those with special needs. Amenities include common laundry facilities, computer lab and outdoor garden space.
