An impressive human chain was linked across the city on Saturday in a show of solidarity in overcoming poverty. It is estimated that Hands Across Buffalo drew thousands of people who joined hands, stretching from Niagara Street to Bailey Avenue. The human chain lasted for 15 minutes and illustrated the diverse ethnic make-up of the city. Organizer Dale Zuchlewski borrowed the idea from a demonstration from nearly 20 years ago called Hands Across America.
A number of community activities and workshops were scheduled in support of the event.
