New York City real estate investor Howard Milstein has decided he is not interested in purchasing the Buffalo Bills, but he is backing efforts to make sure the team remains in Western New York. Milstein, who is owner of the private company Niagara Falls Redevelopment, has a portfolio of numerous properties in Niagara Falls and says the land may be suitable for a possible new stadium for the football team.
Milstein issued his statement Monday morning in response to numerous media inquiries about his possible ownership.
He says he has come to appreciate the role the team plays in the community thanks to his chairmanship of the New York State Thruway Authority.
The developer had been mentioned among several possible buyers of the team since owner Ralph Wilson died in March.
While he is not interested in buying the team, Milstein did say he would work with all parties and any prospective buyers to keep the Bills in upstate New York "where they belong."
