The Erie County SPCA has seized 6 horses from a farm in Newstead. Officers state that the animals were underfed and that they were being stabled in filthy conditions. The barn housing the animals is in significant disrepair and the property is facing pre-forclosure preparations. This is the second complaint that the SPCA has fielded regarding the horses. The first instance did not indicate negligence.
Charges against the owner are pending.
