A location in Lockport could soon become a local pet crematory. Scott Schmidt has taken preliminary steps to purchase the former Rodgers Welding Supply site in the city. Schmidt, the Orleans County Chief Coroner, has been a funeral director in Albion for 32 years. He claims that through his experience he has found a desire in people for the memorialization of their pets.
Schmidt claims that it could be two years before the facility is ready to open.
First, he must get approval from the Lockport Planning Board and the Common council as well as a permit from the Department of Environmental Conservation.
