Claims filed with New York State over vehicular damage caused by broken concrete on the I-290 expressway are being denied. The State Department of Transportation encouraged drivers to file claims after broken concrete on the westbound bridge over Delaware Avenue damaged more than 16 vehicles. State law, though, states that damage caused by highway defects during winter months will not be covered by the state.

That bridge is targeted for replacement in the near future.
