Snow will continue, but worst of latest blizzard behind us

Chris Caya/WBFO News

Western New York will be digging out from the second blizzard of the season, with some areas getting more than a foot of snow in the latest winter storm.   "The worst of the storm actually has probably gone past us. The next phase of the storm will be a lighter, fluffy snow," said National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Zaff, as of late Wednesday afternoon.

Zaff says the storm is slowly moving east and the snow is expected to wind down later tonight, but not before some areas see more than 12 inches of snow.

"Most areas should see about a foot or so. The highest amounts will be along the lake show of Lake Ontario. The lowest amounts will be down near the Pennsylvania border," Zaff said.

Zaff says a steady, light snow is expected to continue through this evening, accumulating several more inches. Temperatures will also drop into the teens tonight with wind chill values in the single digits.

Road conditions will be snow covered and slippery with poor visibility at times.

A blizzard warning continues until 2 a.m. Thursday for all of Western New York. A wind chill advisory is also in effect from 2 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday for Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.
