A 15-year-old Niagara Falls High School student was arrested on a felony charge Wednesday for making bomb threat phone calls to his high school and Niagara-Wheatfield High School, which led to evacuations and lockdowns. When arrested, he told police it was a prank gone bad.

Police won't identify the student because he's going to Family Court and potentially faces time in a youth prison.

Niagara Falls Deputy Police Superintendent Kelly Rizzo says it was good, modern police work.

"We were able to locate where the call came from, and trace the phone. Basically in this instance what we had was a home care worker who accidentally left her phone behind after completing her duties. The child that lived in the house took the phone with him, and made the call from that phone. He later disposed of the phone," Rizzo said

Police found the cell phone on 38th Street, the last piece of the probe. The young man told police he had a friend at Niagara-Wheatfield and wanted to give him the day off also, so he made a call to that school.
