A trio of local lawmakers are preparing to lobby Albany for increased NFTA funding in Governor Cuomo's latest budget proposal. State Senator Tim Kennedy along with Assembly members Mickey Kearns and Crystal Peoples Stokes recognize that nearly 8 million additional dollars are needed to maintain Metro bus and rail service in Buffalo. The lawmakers are driving a hard bargain, demanding that the NFTA retain current routes and fared in return for their influence.
NFTA spokesperson Douglas Hartmeyer states that the amount of additional funding secured will guide those efforts.
