The issues continue to mount after embattled Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak was a conspicuous no-show at Wednesday's State of the State address. "This man is facing some serious allegations. But now it seems to have moved a step beyond that," Buffalo News Political Reporter Bob McCarthy told WBFO News.
Gabryszak has been staying out of the public eye ever since sexual harassment allegations by female staffers began surfacing three weeks ago.
"I went to his office in the legislative office building yesterday and knocked on the door but it was locked. The mail was piled up in front of the door which means that nobody's been around there," McCarthy said from Albany early Thursday morning.
"It's entering a different phase now where people are beginning to get concerned about whether or not there is the proper representation for the constituents of Cheektowaga and Lancaster."
Gabryszak reportedly plans to be in Albany next week for the start of the legislative session.
"People would like to hear what the Assemblyman has to say," McCarthy said.
"The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Joe Morelle, told me, yes there's a due process here. That's important that there is a process that the Assembly will follow through an Ethics Committee investigation. But Assemblyman Gabryszak has to allow that process to begin and so far he hasn't said anything."
