Fourth female staffer alleges sexual harassment by Gabryszak

A fourth woman has now come forward with allegations of sexual harassment by Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak. The lawyer for Caitrin Kennedy says she has filed a notice of intent to file claim against the Cheektowaga Democrat and the Assembly on behalf of her client. That gives her up to a year to sue.

The Buffalo woman worked for Gabryszak for only a short time, having been hired as his Director of Community Relations on September 30. But her attorney says Kennedy has been subjected to many of the same forms of sexual harassment alleged by three other former female staffers, who came forward with their allegations late last week.

Among the claims, Kennedy alleges Gabryszak suggested she accompany him to an couples massage, strip clubs, and a hot tub, and frequently made crude and sexually suggestive comments toward her.

Kennedy's attorney, Prathima Reddy, says the situation has caused her client emotional distress, mental anguish, and stress.

"In reviewing her allegations, they are strikingly similar to the allegations of the women who have come forward in the last week," Reddy said.

"It's clear that there is a pattern and a persistent problem."

Unlike the other three accusers, Kennedy is still employed by the Assembly.

"She was very distressed about everything that she said to her and very embarrassed, humiliated, and frankly bewildered about what to do next," Kennedy's friend and spokeswoman Diana Cihak said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.

Gabryszak has made no public comment in response to any of the claims.
