Officials at the University at Buffalo say an international student who was planning to fly home to Taiwan on Thursday has been killed in a one-car accident. UB officials say 20-year-old Kuan Yu Wu, an architecture student from Taiwan, died early Thursday morning on Millersport Highway near UB's North campus in the Town of Amherst.

The accident, which occurred before 6 a.m., kept Millersport Highway closed for several hours between Flint Road and Coventry Road. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The university says Wu's family is in Tainan, Taiwan, and he was going to fly there Thursday for the winter break.

University officials say counseling services will be made available for the student's friends and classmates.
