It was a rough trek into work for commuters in the Buffalo Niagara region Tuesday morning. Overnight snowfall coated the roads with another layer of new snow, making driving hazardous.
Traffic was snarled throughout the morning commute in metro Buffalo and into downtown.
A major water main break on Oak Street in downtown Buffalo closed off a section of Oak between Clinton and North Division for several hours. It reopened before 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Some commuters added an extra 40 minutes to an hour to their normal daily commute into the city of Buffalo. City streets were still snow covered, with grease-like conditions at many of the intersections.
Traffic was at a crawl along busy Parkside Avenue in North Buffalo, at times backing up to nearly Amherst Street down to the 198 to commute onto the inbound Kensington Expressway.
Traffic along Main Street in Buffalo also crawled along an area from Jewett down to the Kensington Expressway entrance passed Sisters Hospital.
