Five tank cars filled with crude oil bound from Chicago to Philadelphia derailed Tuesday morning on the tracks along Broadway near Harlem Road in Cheektowaga. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Three of the cars tipped over onto their sides, but CSX officials say there were no spills and no injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the derailment is underway and crews continue to work on rerailing the cars.
