For local residents, terms like "Cheektavegas" or "Canadian ballet" are familiar but a local company is giving shoppers a new way to use the words with "Fridge Phrases."
For shoppers, they can buy local Fridge Phrases and put the words together in different ways.
City Dining Cards founder Patrick Finan says the company has added a Niagara Falls version and more for cities around the country.
It's a spinoff of his larger business which is selling City Dining Cards for locally-owned restaurants here and in many other cities like Rochester or Portland, Oregon.
"We cover Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany in New York State but not Manhattan. So, we're getting there. We have been growing very quickly in the last couple of years," Finan said.
"We've created a model that can really work in almost any city from smaller cities like Albany to larger cities like Philadelphia. And, so we've got our sites set on expanding in the Northeast."
Finan says he will probably also spread the dining cards out from Portland also.
He says the concept is good for the community because more of the money spent in local restaurants stays here than with a chain.
