A house fire on the city's East Side has injured two people. Buffalo firefighters responded to a call around 4 AM, discovering a home consumed by flames on Wasmuth Avenue. Authorities initially worked under the assumption that the house was vacant, but neighbors informed them that two people still resided in the home. A rescue effort saved both residents, and they were taken to ECMC for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Damage to the home was estimated at $75,000. The cause of the fire is still being determined.
