Attorney General Eric Schneiderman kicked off his statewide gun buyback program in Rochester on Saturday. The program will accept working and non-working unloaded firearms. The program will be announcing a site and date in Cheektowaga for drop-off soon. Compensation will be in the form of a debit card and will include payment of up to $100 for assault weapons.
Mayor Byron Brown has done 6 gun buybacks in the city of Buffalo. The most recent, this past May, brought in a total of 760 weapons, according to the administration.
