Questions are being addressed to the Amherst Industrial Development Agency after a company has announced it is leaving the area. Allstate Insurance has benefited from three IDA tax breaks while the company has downsized its local operations since 1990. Allstate is moving operations to Rochester, taking the 48 remaining local jobs with them. The firm employed more than three times that many in 1990.
