The 18-year-old Buffalo man who served six months in prison for the burning of a puppy is in trouble with the law again.
Diondre Brown has been arrested and charged with the assault of a Canisius College student over the weekend. Police arrested Brown, who is on probation, at his home Thursday morning.
Gary Everett, director of Public Safety at Canisius, says his agency worked closely with city police.
"We asked the Buffalo Police for extra patrols that following night and morning and we received that. We noticed a lot of students were paying attention to the warnings," Everett said.
A female student was assaulted, knocked down and threatened with a gun around 2 a.m. Saturday at Oakgrove and Blaine near the campus. Buffalo Police received numerous tips leading to Brown's arrest.
"Hamlin Park is a quiet neighborhood. This crime really brings a lot of alarm, not only to our college community, but our elders in Hamlin Park and our families," Everett added.
Brown served six months for helping his cousin Adell Ziegler set a puppy, later named Phoenix, on fire. The dog has since recovered following several procedures and was adopted by his animal hospital caregiver.
In a second incident, a Canisius student was robbed of his cell phone a couple of hours later. Brown has not been charged in that case.
