For decades, passenger ships sailed alongside freight vessels on the Great Lakes. rom 1913-1965, the largest fleet of passenger ships was operated by Canada Steamship Lines. The company operated more than 50 ships across the Great Lakes.
Author and Buffalo native John Henry documents this lost way of life in his book "Great White Fleet: Celebrating Canada Steamship Lines Passenger Ships." The book tells the story of ships that offered both day excursions and week-long cruises.
Henry will read from his book and sign copies on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at a meeting of the Lower Lakes Marine Historical Society held at the Pearl St. Grill and Brewery in Buffalo
