Poll shows growing lead for mayor in primary
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown's standing among likely primary voters shows him riding a strong wave of support. A Siena Research poll shows the mayor leading his Democratic rival, Bernie Tolbert, 63 to 30 percent. The poll, sponsored by The Buffalo News andWGRZ-TV/Channel 2, also shows 78 percent of likely voters feel the city is on the right track. Siena pollster Steven Greenberg claims this spells trouble for Tolbert.
"If he does a far better job of getting his voters, his supporters, out to the poll than does the mayor, that will certainly have an impact on the final results. We only had 7 percent of voters who told us they were undecided, so he certainly has his work cut out for him."
Greenberg still gives Tolbert a chance in the primary, but he states that many factors will have to change drastically and quickly to turn the tide in his direction.
