Canadian news sources are reporting that a plan to ship radioactive waste on the Great Lakes has been canceled. The energy company Bruce Power, located on Lake Huron in Ontario, proposed shipping contaminated steam generators across the Great Lakes and through the St. Lawrence Seaway for the purpose of recycling. Opposition from Great Lakes communities is credited with the cancelation of those plans.

The company claims they remain committed to finding a means for their recycling program.
