County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw has issued a countywide mid-year budget report, and it provides mixed financial outlooks. The report indicates that significant savings have been recognized due to vacant positions not having been filled. The combined savings of unpaid salary and benefits equals nearly $2 million. On the other hand, overly optimistic projections of sales tax revenue could lead to a deficit of more than $7 million at year's end.
Hearings on the mid-year budget figures are scheduled to begin on Monday.
