Fourth of July celebrations were held across the Western New York region Thursday.
Thousands flocked to Buffalo's Canalside to watch an elaborate fireworks display over the city's waterfront Thursday evening.

Earlier in the day 4th of July celebrations at Canalside included family fun and music.
Mayor Bryon Brown was at Canalside to watch the celebrations.

Events continue Friday for the holiday week at Canalside. This afternoon there will be the Songs of the Erie Canal Puppet show and the Erie Canal Harbor Story. At 8 p.m. Friday Sunset Drumming will conclude the day.
