State and local elected leaders are critical of State Department of Transportation Department plans for improving the Scajaquada Expressway. The say the plans fall short of the goal of making the 198 a pedestrian friendly boulevard as opposed to a high-speed expressway. Buffalo Common Council Member Michael LoCurto says Delaware Park needs to be restored according to Olmsted's vision.

"Robert Moses did many things in this state, some good and some not so good. This was a blunder, to divide Delaware Park with an expressway. We have a chance now to correct that blunder."

The public will have its say on the plans at a community meeting June 26th at Buffalo State.
